Tree Soft LLC initially secured one of the four dispensary licenses in Kentuckyโs Green River region during the November 25, 2024 lottery. The Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis approved Tree Softโs official relocation request from Henderson County to Ohio County, designating Beaver Dam as the planned site. This makes Tree Soft the first licensed medical cannabis dispensary in Ohio County, marking a major step toward increasing access for local patients. The name of this Dispensary will be The Post.
The relocation aligns with Beaver Damโs proactive attitude toward medical cannabis. In late October 2024, the Beaver Dam City Commission passed its initial ordinance authorizing medical cannabis businesses, including dispensaries. Further indication of forward movement came with a conditional-use permit application submitted in January 2025, followed by a public hearing in mid-March at City Hallโspecifically addressing Tree Softโs proposed location at 300 N. Main Street. These developments suggest that Tree Soft is completing the required municipal steps and is on track to secure final local approval.
Strategically, 300 N. Main Street places are available in a prominent, easily accessible part of town, within walking distance of key civic amenities, healthcare services, and convenient for residents and commuters alike. Main Street frontages are often ideal for attractable signage, secure parking, and building visibility, all of which support both patient convenience and regulatory compliance.
Beyond regulations and site details, Tree Soft LLCโs arrival in Beaver Dam carries broader significance. As the designated sole dispensary for Ohio County, it will serve adults with qualifying medical conditionsโsuch as cancer, epilepsy, chronic pain, or PTSDโwho can now obtain regulated access without lengthy travel. This is especially meaningful in rural communities where prior access often required long drives to other counties.
Economically, the dispensary will create local jobsโspanning retail, security, management, and administrative rolesโand generate tax revenue and ancillary business activity (e.g., security services, packaging suppliers, local restaurants). Its presence may complement broader efforts to diversify Beaver Damโs economic base and enhance local healthcare infrastructure.
